It was 65 years ago today that the battle of Iwo Jima took place. Let us not forget the bravery and courage of the soldiers, and the 28,000 lives lost. It’s hard to believe it’s been 65 years. Sadly we’re losing more and more veterans from that war each day. Let us never forget what an amazing generation that was and the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedom and that of the world.
If you haven’t seen the movie Letters from Iwo Jima it is well worth your time to watch it. It’s a deeply touching movie, and has a wonderful soundtrack.
